Summer Party Inspiration and Ideas

Country Living has a great section on their site for summer party ideas . . . and with the Independence holiday weekend quickly approaching; I knew I had to share with you some of the great photos and ideas. I thought they'd be perfect for a festive 4th party that might also be an engagement party or rehearsal dinner. The ideas could also be used for a backyard bridal shower or even a wedding.

Wrap sparkling water, lemonade, food jars, and soda bottles in pattern paper that is secured with double-sided tape. You can either make use of leftover pieces of gift wrap or wallpaper that match your color scheme.

I absolutely LOVE this idea. Anchor your tablecloths with pails of wildflowers - simply fill tiny tin buckets with flowers and about an 1/2 inch of water. Using a clip and string or narrow ribbon, tie and knot one end around the bucket's handle and the other end to the clip.

Using hibiscus syrup, which comes with the edible flowers - you can make 2 different drinks from the one ingredient. For one drink, the syrup adds a floral note and a red tinge to iced tea. For a second drink, you can add one of the hibiscus flowers to a flute of champagne.

A great way to keep bugs out of the side dishes is to serve them in single-serving lidded glass jars and then each guest receives their own individual portion.

Serve up a fun and unexpected dessert for guests with a simplified Sundae Bar. Pre-dip the cones in melted white or milk chocolate, then roll in goodies, such as tiny marshmallows, coconut, nuts, etc. Serve the cones with a selection of ice cream flavors that are chilled in a tub of ice. Guests then help themselves.

Wedding Dresses Fall 2010

Fall is all about volume and texture… I loved how the fabric was layered asymmetrically to create volume; you can really see the huge amount of detail and craftsmanship that goes into each dress.

Owl love you forever!

I am so excited to share today's next find with you. While reading Little White Book, I came across these gorgeous photographs of Amy and Toby's owl themed wedding. The owl ceramic figurine, signs, tea towel, cake topper and tags tied around handmade lollipops are all so cute. I had to sneak in the fourth picture showing the lovely bride and her drop-dead-beautiful shoes

Romona Keveza's Spring 2011

Amazing Romona Keveza’s evening wear collection for Spring 2011 Couture wedding dresses which were absolute perfection. Her evening wear is inspired by romantic film noir and in her words, meld fantasy with restraint. Here’s your first glance at some of their best sellers:

Swoon Worthy

...J. Mendel. If you aren't one for a "traditional" wedding dress - I think J. Mendel's Spring 2010 ready to wear line is absolutely swoon worthy and offers some beautiful choices. How fabulous would you look in one of these dresses on your wedding day?

Summer Refreshment

There is nothing like an outdoor summer wedding. Fresh air, nature and almost usually the sun! Which means hot, hot, hot. Here is something to beat the heat! Why not serve either one at these at the reception? Even better the orange ice can be spiked with some alcohol and you instantly have a great cool personal drink/dessert/refresher. Or you can serve them after dinner. Nothing like fresh strawberries and blueberries - separate or mixed together - all in handy little carrying cones.

Plus I love the little orange with the tag stuck in...how perfect would it be at each place setting...oh, there is my spot! Ahhh, perfect summer refreshment.

Easter Egg Decorating Party

As easter is right around the corner, I had to put together a board for an egg decorating party. This Easter activity isn't limited to just the 12 and under crowd anymore thanks to Martha Stewart. She has given us a ton of sophisticated dying techniques to try out this year.

Invite your gueats with a handmade Easter card. Decorate your home with Easter egg tree. You could decorate eggs ahead to place on the branches or leave it empty and ask your guests to donate one of their creations to the tree. Bring the Easter pastels into your own menu with cupcakes iced with pastel frosting and banana-berry smoothies.
Just have fun with it.....bring out the kid thats still inside of all of us!

Spring Inspiration

This inspiration board was inspired by the girl sitting by the window. I love the flowers in her hair, the open window, and I can totally picture her as a carefree relaxed bride. The wedding would feature a garden fresh menu, tons of sweets, flower girls in marabou skirts, and bunches of fresh tulips will decorate the tables.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Is the U.S. ready for a food revolution? Depending on who you ask, answers to that question could range from "Yes!" to "A-what?" Well, there seems to be plenty of revolutionizing to go around, and Jamie Oliver is jumping in with a big network TV reality show set in "America's unhealthiest city."

Think Color

I love weddings that feature unique colors. While every bride has her own personality and favorite colors to incorporate, one gets tired of seeing the same colors over and over again. Black and red seems to be a popular color palette. While there is not anything wrong with the black and red combo, I certainly advocate making your wedding unique.
